Katrina S. Axelrod
 

Katrina S. Axelrod, MAT President & Executive Director

and Co-Founder & Co-Director of MUSIC: Shared Experiences (M: SE)

Katrina founded and created MAT in 2006, running seven successful seasons of the Central CT Civic Youth Orchestra.  She is a Social Worker by education and profession, having served three times as an Agency Executive Director.  She is a staunch advocate for music education, the arts, disability/accessibility issues, and universal opportunities.  Katrina is well experienced in fundraising, grant writing, and event planning.  She is also a trained singer and plays the guitar and piano.  Katrina and Roberta perform a duo cabaret act to spread the word about M: SE.  Click here for more details.   

Roberta De Fiore
 

Roberta De Fiore, MAT Vice President and Co-Founder & Co-Director of MUSIC: Shared Experiences (M: SE).   Instructor & Proprietor, Music by Roberta Piano and Vocal Studio.

 

 Roberta is a classically trained singer who is an experienced professional performer, music educator, choir director, and entrepreneur.  She operates her Woman-owned vocal and piano studio in Meriden, CT.  She is fluent in Spanish and Italian and is a former ESL teacher.  She also has background working in construction management, corporate finance, and risk management.  Roberta will also be the Artistic Director/Conductor of the V: SE, our choral program. Katrina and Roberta perform a duo cabaret act to spread the word about M: SE.  Click here for more details.   

We are seeking an Orchestral Conductor for O: SE Contact us if it sounds like it's for you. 
We are currently seeking applications from interested, experienced, qualified individuals.  All candidates must pass a background check and obtain First Aide Certification.

 

(Part time position: Stipend Offered, to be negotiated)  Individual will select appropriate repertoire and direct the orchestras in rehearsal and performance, provide group coaching, et. al., oversee management of orchestral music library and orchestral music budget; produce performances, and help create/have input into the creation of promotional and other printed materials.  Work with V: SE Director to produce combined concerts.  Collaborate with M: SE Directors on publicity and printed programs along with selecting/securing performance opportunities and venues.  Some repertoire choices may be subject to approval by the M: SE Directors.  Teaching privileges for individual instrumental/piano instruction via separate personal arrangement afforded at M: SE  location to the Conductors with right of first refusal.

 

Requirements:  If you enjoy working with all ages, have an orchestral background as opposed to band,  you will have fun creating shared experiences with us.  You must be oriented to service and have enthusiasm, collaborative spirit, good sense of humor, strong work ethic, and love of animals.  Especially at the start up, hands on help of many kinds may be needed as well.
